Eddie Trunk: (Joey) Great to have you on board! Tell everybody what’s going on in “MANOWAR world” these days.
Joey DeMaio: Well, … we’re getting ready to do this tour, and we’re gonna be out on the road here in America, finally. We’re gonna start in Detroit, and we’re going all the way to Los Angeles, and we’re gonna really kick some serious ass! We’re getting all the equipment dusted off and ready to really blow down these joints!
Eddie Trunk: That’s something that everybody knows, the band is enormous outside of the U.S., but here in the U.S. you don’t play as much. But it sounds like for people watching, they should get ready for a show coming to them soon finally.
Joey DeMaio: Yeah, and it’s really interesting to see that these shows are selling amazingly well. It’s a very, very big production. Just to give you a little idea mathematically: Karl’s guitar rig is 5,600 watts, which equals 56 Marshall stacks, if you want to do the math, which is basically 140 feet long, so like, you know, three tractor trailers…
Eddie Trunk: … It sounds like you’re trying to beat that prestigious record you have, with the loudest band in the world, in the Guiness Book of World Records, right?
Joey DeMaio: No, we use much more gear than that in Europe; but this is all we can fit into these places.
Eddie Trunk: Anyone who has seen a MANOWAR show knows – and this is one of the things that I love about the band – it’s not loud just for the sake of volume, it’s pristine loud; it sounds great as well. It’s very clean. I know you put a lot of work into that, you make your own instruments, it’s something you pride yourselves on, right?
Joey DeMaio: Yeah, and we’re bringing a semi with us, full of PA equipment, and full of the production that these clubs just don’t have. I mean they’re all quality clubs. But what’s good enough, you know, for other people, is not good enough for the MANOWAR fans. This is a labor of love to bring the highest fidelity, highest power we possibly can to the audience and take the roof off these shacks. So, I would invite anybody who’s never seen MANOWAR, come once. If you don’t like it, don’t come ever again. But I promise you: you’ll see the strongest, heaviest, wildest, most loyal devoted fans in the world, that’s for sure!
Eddie Trunk: Nice! Joey; tell everybody about the upcoming MANOWAR release; I know you’ve got some music coming out soon.
Joey DeMaio: Yes. We’ve rerecorded one of our classic records, ‘Kings Of Metal’, and it’s been an amazing experience recording this record. We’ll be out performing it in its entirety (on this tour), so we appreciate all the support and your kind words and a big thanks to everybody out there that lives, breathes and eats metal every day. Come see us on the road, and get your head blown off!

Eddie Trunk: (Joey) Grossartig, Dich dabei zu haben. Erzähl uns, was es dieser Tage Neues gibt in “MANOWAR World.”.
Joey DeMaio: Nun… Wir machen uns gerade fertig für die Tour, und wir touren endlich auch wieder in Amerika! Wir starten in Detroit und dann geht es den ganzen Weg bis nach Los Angeles, und wir werden mächtig einen drauf machen! Wir haben das ganze Equipment frisch gemacht und sind bereit, diese Clubs plattzumachen!
Eddie Trunk: Etwas das Jedermann weiss ist, daß die Band außerhalb der U.S.A. enorm erfolgreich ist, aber hier in den Staaten spielt Ihr nicht so häufig. Aber es klingt so als sollten sich die Zuschauer hier bereitmachen, und daß ihr endlich auch zu ihnen kommt…
Joey DeMaio: Ja, das stimmt. Und es ist wirklich interessant zu sehen wie großartig diese Shows verkaufen. Es ist eine sehr, sehr große Produktion. Um Dir eine Idee zu geben, hier ein paar Zahlen: Karl’s Gitarren Rack hat 5.600 Watt, das entspricht 56 Marshall Stacks, wenn Du das überschlagen willst; ungefähr 43 Meter, oder die Länge von drei Sattelzügen.
Eddie Trunk: Klingt als wolltet Ihr Euren berühmten Rekord als lauteste Band der Welt schlagen, mit dem Ihr im Guiness Buch der Rekorde steht, stimmts?
Joey DeMaio: Nicht wirklich. Wir haben in Europa viel mehr Equipment im Einsatz; aber das ist alles was in diese Clubs hier reinpasst.
Eddie Trunk: Jeder der jemals eine MANOWAR Show gesehen hat – und das ist eines der Dinge die ich so liebe an der Band – weiss, daß sie nicht einfach laut ist der Lautstärke wegen; es ist ein makelloses “laut”; es klingt fantastisch. Sehr sauber und klar. Ich weiss, daß Ihr eine Menge Arbeit da hineinsteckt; Ihr baut Eure eigenen Instrumente… das ist etwas, auf das Ihr sehr stolz seid, stimmts?
Joey DeMaio: Ja. Und wir bringen einen 38 Tonnen-Truck mit uns, voll mit P.A. Equipment, und mit der Ausstattung, die diese Clubs einfach nicht haben. Ich meine, das sind Qualitäts-Clubs; aber was gut genug ist für andere Leute, ist nicht gut genug für die MANOWAR Fans. Das ist eine “Labor Of Love”; wir setzen einfach alles daran unserem Publikum den besten Sound und die ultimative Power die man sich überhaupt vorstellen kann zu bringen und die Dächer von diesen Hallen zu fegen. Ich lade jeden ein, der MANOWAR noch nie live gesehen hat, wenigstens einmal zu kommen. Wenn es Dir nicht gefällt, komm’ niemals wieder. Aber ich kann Dir versprechen: Du wirst die stärksten, wildesten, loyalsten Metal Fans auf der Welt dort treffen, das steht fest!
Eddie Trunk: Nice! Joey, sag uns etwas zur bevorstehenden MANOWAR Veröffentlichung. Ich weiss Ihr habt neue Musik anstehen.
Joey DeMaio: Ja. Wir haben eines unserer klassischen Alben, “Kings Of Metal”, neu aufgenommen, und das war eine fantastische Erfahrung. Wir werden dieses Album komplett spielen (auf dieser Tour), und wir wissen Deine Unterstützung und Deine freundlichen Worte sehr zu schätzen; und ein großes Danke an alle da draußen, die Metal jeden Tag leben, atmen und essen. Kommt zu dieser Tour und stellt Euch darauf ein, daß Euch der Kopf weggeblasen wird!
